With an approximate workforce of 200 dedicated employees, we specialize in the collection, processing, sales, and brokerage of recyclable materials, and are a proven industry leader that have been in operation since 1976. We are currently seeking a Part-time Production Worker for our Bottle Depot to join our growing team in Corner Brook, NL.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to bend, stand and walk for extended periods of time, some twisting, squatting, lifting and climbing.
  • Possesses hand eye coordination.
  • Ability to understand written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to learn repetitive duties quickly and carry them through independently.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold weather and able to complete light to medium work (periodically lifting up to 30 lbs).

Responsibilities
  • Accept eligible beverage containers from the general public in accordance with specific standards prescribed by MMSB.
  • Operate a computerized beverage container counting system, integrated with the sorting of beverage containers and the shipping of bulk containers.
  • Provide an immediate refund to customers on all eligible beverage containers collected (5 cents for a non-alcoholic beverage container and 10 cents for an alcoholic beverage container).
  • Responsible for managing amounts owing to customers who choose Xpress drop- off services.
  • Sort all beverage containers into supplied bulk containers. This involves sorting aluminum, steel, glass, various types of plastics and other types of ready-to-drink alcoholic and non-alcoholic used beverage containers into canvas bags or non-insulated rigid tubs and/or collapsible panel bags. Currently, there are 14 separate sorts which typically weigh between 40 and 100 pounds, depending on the type of plastic and upwards to over 700 pounds for full bulk containers of glass;
  • Storing the bulk containers in a secure, indoor, dry area, both upon the delivery of empty containers to a Green Depot by the transportation service provider and, once full, prepare for transport to the MMSB processing center.
  • Work in safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be aware of surroundings and be alert.
  • Report all incidents/accidents and illness immediately to a supervisor.
  • Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
  • Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter), ensuring the area around their feet is clear and tools are put away.
  • Takes a positive approach to work assignments and treats co-workers, customers and management with tact and respect.
  • Must adhere to all company Policies and Regulations.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor that are safe and reasonable.
