QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience:
  • 2+ years for Associate Claims Examiner
  • 7+ years for Claims Examiner
  • Background as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or in a related role
  • Specialized expertise in Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions, Cyber Liability, or other professional claims involving claims-made policies is a plus
  • Additional qualifications such as multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, or JD are also a plus

Responsibilities
  • Coverage Review: Evaluate coverage by reviewing first notice of loss and policy details; issue disclaimers and reservation of rights letters as needed
  • Claim Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations including liability and damages assessments, witness interviews, scene inspections, and evidence collection
  • Independent Adjusters: Retain, direct, and oversee independent adjusters throughout the investigation process
  • Liability Analysis: Apply statutory and case law to assess liability exposure and ensure fair contribution from joint tortfeasors
  • Reserve Management: Maintain accurate reserves that reflect liability and damages as claims develop
  • File Oversight: Manage claim files proactively, negotiate settlements with claimants or attorneys, oversee defense counsel, and guide litigation strategy
  • Reporting: Prepare reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters
  • Collaboration: Partner with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to share updates and support strong product performance
