Description
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at UPMC Muncy Place, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality resident care and support services. This is a full-time, 40-hour position with a 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM shift, including every other weekend and holiday rotation. Plus, enjoy a $2,000 sign-on bonus! Working under the direction of nurses or physicians, you will assist with daily living activities, maintain a safe and clean environment, and ensure residents receive compassionate, professional care at all times. Responsibilities Provide direct resident care as directed by RN/LPN, including bathing, feeding, dressing, transporting, toileting, and ambulating. Maintain a safe and organized environment: complete safety checks, clean rooms and equipment, change linens, and keep hallways clear. Respond promptly to resident needs and calls. Assist with meal delivery and feeding; refill water pitchers. Perform routine tests such as weights, vital signs, and intake/output. Communicate changes in resident status to RN/LPN in a timely manner. Acquire and distribute supplies and equipment to support care delivery. Participate in unit activities: answering call lights, passing meal trays, transporting residents. Apply, monitor, and remove restraints per protocol; provide diversional activities to reduce restraint use. Document care in medical records per established procedures. Comply with all safety policies, including standard precautions and bloodborne pathogen protocols. Respond to emergent situations within CNA scope. Professional Development Maintain current CPR certification. Accept feedback constructively and seek opportunities to improve skills. Communicate learning needs to the unit manager and participate in self-review. Support departmental changes and contribute to efficient operations. Teamwork & Communication Establish professional, respectful relationships. Use effective communication strategies with residents, families, and team members. Report equipment malfunctions promptly High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
