Ayoroa Simmons is a leading provider of end-to-end Geospatial and Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions for the AEC industry. Our Reality Capture Division is one of the fastest-growing segments of the firm, emphasizing excellence in geomatics practice. We are seeking a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our Lexington, KY-based field team.
In this role, you will oversee and execute field data collection and support the production of survey deliverables according to the highest professional standards. As a key team member, you will lead survey planning, design, and execution while collaborating with the Director of Survey Operations, project managers, engineers, field crews, and clients to achieve project goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the state of Kentucky (or eligibility for licensure by reciprocity).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional surveying experience.
  • Strong expertise in boundary determination, land title research, and surveying practices.
  • Advanced understanding of precision survey measurement techniques and geodetic principles.
  • Mastery in the use, maintenance, and calibration of precision surveying instruments.
  • Proficient in traditional and modern mapping, drafting, and surveying techniques, including photogrammetry and LIDAR workflows.
  • Skilled in the application of State Plane Coordinate Systems and Metes and Bounds Descriptions.
  • Experienced in legal real property descriptions, public records research, and monumentation.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, Leica Cyclone, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of laws related to public and private property acquisition and mapping.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct and oversee topographic surveys, field checking, and data collection.
  • Perform and manage As-Built, Boundary, Title, and Topographic surveys.
  • Plan and execute the layout and marking of construction sites.
  • Maintain and interpret clear, concise field notes and perform note reduction.
  • Ensure all work adheres to professional surveying standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and legal property descriptions accurately.
  • Maintain and ensure the upkeep of all company surveying equipment.
  • Act as the primary representative of the company when interacting with clients, public landowners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise survey crew members to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Prepare and verify time logs, expense reports, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety regulations.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks as necessary.
  • Be available for travel as assigned (approximately 33% travel required).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
