Description

Professional Surveyor Position Purpose: The professional surveyor will provide data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation and/or dimension of land or land features. Surveyors work closely with other professionals in our engineering and architectural departments. Essential Functions: * Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed * Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites * Direct or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties based on legal deeds and titles * Record results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features * Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain * Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys * Write descriptions of property boundaries for use in deeds or other legal documents * Search legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed * Adjust and service surveying equipment to ensure accuracy * Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation Required Traits & Characteristics: * Highly motivated and team oriented * Good written and verbal communication skills Organizational Relationships: * Reports directly to Regional Survey Manager Required Education/Experience: * Bachelors Degree in Surveying * Professional survey licensure required * 2+ years of experience as a professional surveyor * Proficient in AutoCAD * Structural/architectural drafting and detailing experience Travel: * Position based in Kalamazoo * Local travel required About Wightman Wightman is a full-service consulting firm that exists to service people and the communities we live in.
