DIVISION: ISIPINGO HOSPITAL- MICU x 2 JOB TITLE: PROFESSIONAL NURSE X2 PURPOSE OF POSITION To Provide age-appropriate patient care according to the nursing scope of practice as defined by the South African Nursing Council (SANC). KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill medical patients in the MICU. Assess, monitor, and manage patients with severe medical conditions, including acute respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and severe infections. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the medical team, ensuring compliance with SANC regulations. Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and other critical parameters, promptly responding to any changes in patient conditions. Assist in the management of life-supporting equipment such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and IV infusion pumps. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans for patients. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during critical care episodes. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all aspects of patient care. Ensure adherence to infection control practices and hospital protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment. COMPETENCIES (The following will be advantageous) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Educational Qualifications & Experience) Must be registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse Preferably have two or more years of experience as an Enrolled Nurse. Must be prepared to do shift-work (Night shift / Day Shift) SKILLS (Practical & Technical) Must have excellent telephone skills. Must possess excellent inter-personal skills. Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision. Excellent observation skills.
