POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Manager of Quality, Risk & Professional Practice, the Professional Practice Lead and Educator works in collaboration with clinical staff, managers, and the CNE to advance the implementation of evidenced informed best practices.
The Professional Practice Lead and Educator is a professional role model who is accountable for fostering the development of clinical excellence and facilitating the provision of outstanding patient and family experiences by acting as a resource person for members of the interprofessional health care team. In addition, they are instrumental in creating a professional interdisciplinary climate and Just Culture at HHHS by modelling excellence and fostering interprofessional collaboration. This role will advance professional practice through leadership in learning and development by assisting the interprofessional team in the integration of best practice in their daily work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN required, or additional educational preparation relevant to the position in adult education, project management, quality, or project management/administration; Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • BCLS Certification required, ACLS required or within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years related and practical experience in an acute care or emergency/critical care environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to enabling evidence-based acute care nursing practice, interprofessional and ethical practice, best practices in care of hospitalized seniors, person centered care.
  • Demonstrated project management and program planning skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership, prioritization, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical education skills and knowledge of principles of adult education. Able to evaluate clinical learning needs, plan programs, develop performance improvement plans, and assess and coach staff, as needed.
  • Evidence of effective communication and conflict resolution skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders promoting collective problem-solving approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong orientation to staff development and staff empowerment.
  • Expert understanding and experience in emergency nursing and equipment. Able to support others in these areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to respond to and appropriately prioritize simultaneous competing demands.
  • Ability to utilize information technology (e.g. EPIC, databases, spreadsheets, MS Office, and internet searches).

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $40.44-$58.51 per hour
Expected hours: 37.50 per week
