JOB SUMMARY

The Detweiler laboratory in the Molecular Cellular and Development Biology Department (MCDB) is seeking a BS/MS Research Scientist (Professional Research Assistant, PRA) with a background in microbiology and an interest in managing a laboratory as part of a team. At the bench, the successful candidate will carry out experiments aimed at characterizing fundamental Gram-negative bacterial processes that can be targeted to enable mammalian white blood cells to clear an infection. The initial appointment term is one year, and reappointment is desirable.

WHO WE ARE

The Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Department - Detweiler lab. MCDB is located on the main Boulder CU campus. MCDB research labs focus on diverse, cutting-edge biological topics. The Detweiler lab is specifically interested in identifying new ways to interrupt bacterial infections.

Responsibilities
  • To contribute to research projects funded by NIH and other entities. Our projects aim to discover new ways to inhibit bacterial pathogens to enable the host immune system to clear them. In our lab, you will develop your career by assisting with experiments and, in time, design and conduct experiments independently. This will include collecting, and analyzing data, contributing intellectually and materially to the research goals of the laboratory, and mentoring junior lab members towards their career goals. In addition, you will work with the PI and other lab members to ensure the lab runs smoothly.
