Description

UPMC Bellefield’s Mental Health Acute Partial Hospitalization Program is looking to add a Professional Staff Nurse to their Outpatient team!
This position will work Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm in Oakland.
The Professional Staff Nurse, a Registered Nurse and integral member of the care delivery team, sets the standards for quality care and holds responsibility, authority, and accountability for nursing services. They manage patient care for individuals and families using independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with the healthcare team. By fostering strong relationships with physicians, providers, patients, and families, the nurse supports optimal outcomes across the care continuum. Additionally, they demonstrate a commitment to both the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities
  • Actively engages in quality improvement initiatives; identifies opportunities and applies evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care and patient satisfaction.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships across all levels of staff and with patients/families; demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and adaptability in a dynamic care environment.
  • Applies adult learning principles in patient and staff education; provides clear, supportive guidance throughout the care process and fosters a culture of continuous learning and feedback.
  • Develops holistic, patient-centered care plans; collaborates with physicians, triages effectively, and communicates clearly to ensure safe, coordinated care. Documentation supports seamless communication and care transitions.
  • Demonstrates accountability for ongoing professional development; actively participates in shared governance and embraces change to improve care quality and the practice environment.
  • Maintains productive, respectful relationships; models healthy work-life balance, cultural awareness, and safe work practices. Communicates safety concerns proactively.
    RN required. BSN preferred.
    Minimum six months experience preferred
    The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
    They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
