Schedule: Monday to Friday — No weekends or holidays Shifts available: • 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM • 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM • 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse? The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who delivers high-quality, patient-centered care with accountability and clinical judgment. This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, care teams, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes and demonstrates a strong commitment to the nursing profession and the community. As a Professional Staff Nurse and integral member of the care team, you will set the standard for high-quality nursing care, with full authority and accountability for its delivery—demonstrating a consistent commitment to both the community and the nursing profession. Responsibilities: Drive quality improvement and enhance patient satisfaction through evidence-based practices. Build strong, collaborative relationships with healthcare teams, patients, and families. Apply critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to manage complex patient care. Educate patients, families, and staff using adult learning principles, promoting continuous learning and development. Develop patient-centered care plans, coordinate with physicians, and ensure clear, effective communication. Commit to ongoing professional growth, foster teamwork, support cultural awareness, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Minimum six months of nursing experience preferred Experience in Surgical Services is preferred BSN preferred The ideal candidate will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for the patient population served by their assigned unit. They must understand the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and be able to assess patient data to determine and meet individual care needs based on age-specific requirements, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
