About the role: As the Professional Standards Manager, reporting directly to General Counsel, you will be at the forefront of managing and enhancing our professional standards and complaints handling function. This role will see you collaborating with key stakeholders across the business to ensure our legal professional standards are unparalleled. With your strategic approach to professional standards risk management this is an opportunity where you will make a real impact. This is a full time, permanent position based in our Melbourne CBD office, with opportunities for some interstate travel. What’s involved: Uplift and continuously improve practice management processes and policies. Implement best practices and innovative solutions. Review and optimize the use of systems and technology, including Generative AI. Design and deliver impactful training programs for lawyers and non-lawyers on case selection, professional standards, risk management, and practice management. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Implement and update our professional standards audit system, providing qualitative audits and assurance. Establish systems and processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. The experience we are looking for: High proficiency in managing professional risk with precision. Exceptional client service mindset. Aware of changing regulations, technology, and industry standards. A strong understanding of professional standards and risk management in the legal industry. Tech savvy in practice management software and technology. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. A senior level of experience in post admission, either in a client-facing or internal law firm or compliance role. Prior experience in professional indemnity or personal injuries law is desirable but not essential. Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) or equivalent and at least 7 years post-admission experience.
