PROFESSORS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DIGITAL INNOVATION

We are currently recruiting for Professors with expertise, and an interest in, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation to join us.

Building on our growing reputation in AI and digital innovation, with a strong focus on engineering, sports, and cybersecurity, we’re looking for expert Professors in:

  • AI Applications in Sport: Strengthen Loughborough’s world-class sports technology research, including AI-driven coaching, performance analytics, and injury prediction.
  • AI Applications in Engineering: Drive innovation in advanced manufacturing, aerodynamics, energy-efficient systems, and the built environment.
  • AI-informed Decision Making: Leverage Loughborough’s expertise in data-driven decisions for policy, business, and engineering applications.
  • Cyber Resilience: Including cybersecurity, resilience, and digital forensics, blending academic rigor with real-world practitioner experience. Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance to support collaborations with government and industry.
  • Advances in Artificial Intelligence, including:
  • Generative and Lean/Efficient AI: Research in modelling, data efficiency, and AI optimisation, leveraging Loughborough’s expertise.
  • Explainable AI & Trustworthy Systems:Ensuring transparency and trust in AI technologies, reinforcing Loughborough’s leadership in human-computer interaction and AI governance.
  • Large Language Models: Exploring applications across digital humanities, mathematics education, policymaking, and sustainability.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Successful candidates will have a sustained and continuing record of excellence which has contributed to the furtherance of knowledge in their discipline and is recognised in a well-established and high-profile international reputation. Evidence of significant academic leadership and a PhD, or equivalent research experience, are also essential.
