POST SUMMARY

The School seeks to appoint a Professor to research, teach, and supervise in Theology in the Catholic Tradition, with a focus upon historical and contemporary (i.e. Vatican II and post Vatican II) ecclesiology. The appointee will also give leadership in public engagement with the church and with the wider society.
The post is based in the School of Religion, Theology, and Peace Studies on the campus of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. The post is an affiliated professorship with the Loyola Institute. The Loyola Institute specialises in research and education in Theology in the Catholic tradition, at the intersection of church, academy, and wider society. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in furthering this mission. Specifically, the Loyola Institute seeks to engage a scholar of international reputation as a public intellectual and commentator on Catholic affairs, in the area of historical and contemporary ecclesiology (study of the church). With a proven capability of leadership in research (through publications, organising of research projects, attraction of research funding), the successful candidate will contribute to raising the national and international profile of the Loyola Institute and the School.
The appointee will also contribute to the school’s teaching in Theology, at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels, including supervision of PhD and MPhil dissertations. They will participate across the range of School activities and enhance and expand links within the wider College.
Post status: Permanent
Salary: This appointment will be made on Professor In Salary Scale (€101,433 - €135,607) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
