With around 400 students and about 50 colleagues in academia and services, Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe is an innovative non-profit university. Our mission is to contribute to transformation in economics, politics, business & society. The “Karls” creates a space for inter- and transdisciplinary inspiration, and playful exploration and dialogue. We are particularly distinct by our internationality, with one of the highest proportions of full-time international students in German universities of applied sciences. We have formulated the values that unite us in our mission statement and our diversity statement.
Karlshochschule places great importance on the personality development of its students. Thus, we are offering service learning and fostering civic engagement. The didactic principle of the university is to offer integrated, interactive, and constructivist teaching and thus we are working for instance with case studies, role plays, simulations, and project work.
Our Management Faculty focuses on research and teaching in the interplay of managerial practices, symbolic meanings, institutional logics, social context and global challenges. We are open for and interested in various approaches and theories such as practice theory, critical theory, discourse theory, cultural studies, poststructuralist approaches, gender theory, systems theory, critical management studies and consumer culture theory. Methodologically, we are likewise pluralistic using a range of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods.
