Your tasks
As a professor on the Cultural Work degree program, you will be responsible for teaching, research, development and academic self-administration.

We are primarily looking for cultural sociologists with a focus on the analysis of cultural and social change processes, understood

  • from a cultural-historical, cultural-theoretical, and cultural-political perspective,
  • with a view to the social construction of cultural practices,
  • taking into account the tense relationship between urbanity and regionality and
  • with a focus on the examination of cultural heritage in the past, present and future.

Your qualifications

  • You fulfill the legal requirements for employment according to § 43 (1) points 1 to 3 and 4b of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG).
  • You have completed a university degree in the disciplines of cultural sociology, cultural studies or cultural anthropology/European ethnology.
  • Your past work experience is characterized by a distinguished professional practice in the context of arts management and cultural work, and you can establish a high level of practical relevance in the teaching of the degree program and initiate relevant projects in research.
  • You will have a sound knowledge of various historical and contemporary approaches and theories relevant to the teaching field as well as proven methodological skills in empirical social and cultural research.

Beyond that, we would like you to

  • have experience in the acquisition of funding
  • be able to design and teach courses in English,
  • further develop our didactic principle of research-led teaching through specific research and transfer formats that dovetail with teaching,
  • be open to developing digital teaching formats,
  • participate in interdisciplinary course work and research,
  • be involved in the further development of the university-wide profile lines,
  • further expand our regional and international cooperation in teaching, research, and practice, and
  • have passion and resilience for teaching, research, transfer, academic self-administration, and professional discourse within the degree program, it´s department, and the university.
