PROGRAM CLINICIAN: FOSTER CARE
Position Summary:
On-site position, reporting to the Program Manager, The Program Clinician position support Enviros’ Foster Care Program, elevating the quality of caregiving and supporting its clinical practice. The program clinician employs trauma-informed practice, fosters inclusive and trauma informed environments, provides key training expertise and liaises with Enviros leadership and programs to provide direction, training and consultation to the Foster Care Team and families wherever needed.
The Program Clinician must follow and actively support all Enviros’ policies and procedures, health and safety protocols, legislative protocols, and provide support as needed so that accreditation standards are met.

Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Psychology/Social Work
- Experience in counselling, children, youth, and family therapy
- Registered/Chartered/Licensed by their professional discipline

Accountabilities
This section provides the key outcomes the position is accountable for and the activities that are required to achieve
those outcomes.
Organization and Administration
- Train and guide program staff in therapeutic service delivery and support agency initiatives
- Participate in rotational on-call schedule and occasional evening or weekend organizational activities
- Ensure timely documentation of meetings, including observations and recommendations
Program
TEAM/PROGRAM SUPPORT
- Provide support and direction on building therapeutic support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviours, respond to trauma indicators and support optimal health and development of children under care
- Provide guidance to Support Workers in implementation of therapeutic plans, practice, and interventions;
- Conduct research and share best practice strategies to enhance team training and strengthen organizational capacity
- Communicate directly with the program supervisor regarding client interaction/activities and any overarching program concerns
- Support Program safety (clients and staff)
- Participate in regular team meetings and collaborative discussions, increasing capacity to serve complex and changing needs of children and families
- Review program logs, notes, and support plans to ensure familiarity with clients/families
- Communicate relevant information to staff team
- Other duties as required
Assessment and Reporting
- Collaborate with internal and external program delivery partners including the team, Calgary and Area Child and Family Services, and other practitioners regarding support planning and goal setting with children, youth, and families through ongoing evaluation. Ensure all staff members consistently deliver therapeutic services of the highest quality and effectiveness
- Support program in identifying strengths and determining the resources needed for children, youth, and families to achieve their goals
- Collaborate with program team to assess the youth’s immediate and external family systems, focusing on their capacity and potential roles in supporting the child’s therapeutic and developmental needs
- Responsible for consulting on outcome measurements concerning each client in the program, including initial data collection through to discharge data, involving practitioners in this process – thus ensuring reports reflect outcomes as they relate to treatment goals
Treatment
- Program Support – working with program supervisor and staff to ensure therapeutic environments within programs are maintained through a process of teaching, coaching, and directing when needed
- Collaborate with the staff team to provide clinical services, supporting each of the unique needs of youth and their families
- Client Support – provide interim individual and/or family therapy as determined in conjunction with the program team
- Support facilitation of case reviews
- Provide consultation to Enviros Programs and Staff (i.e., Support Model, Trauma Informed Care)
Community Support
- Foster environment of program development, learning and adapting
- Support the greater agency with its philosophy, functions, and responsibilities:
- meeting regularly with other Enviros Clinicians to discuss agency therapeutic needs and concerns;
- supporting the therapeutic needs of other programs as needed and when possible;
- representing the program or agency on community committees or meetings as needed.
Leadership
- Function as a representative of the agency in leading the therapeutic component of the program and service delivery within the organization and community and in meeting the commitments made in the agency’s strategic plan
