Passive House for Everyone (PHFE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to advance climate-resilient, thriving communities in the built environment. We expand access to energy-efficient, healthy, and comfortable building practices through youth-centered STEAM programs and hands-on training. Passive House For Everyone is seeking a motivated, mission-driven Program & Communications Coordinator to join our team in a hands-on, multi-faceted role. This position combines community engagement, program coordination, communications, and organizational support, working with schools, community groups, and industry partners to plan workshops and events, manage social media and newsletters, support fundraising, and keep programs and office operations running smoothly.
The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainability & Education, thrives on variety and multitasking, balancing workshop facilitation, relationship-building, communications, and program management. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to grow skills, take ownership, and make a tangible positive impact on people and the environment through building sustainability educational initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with proven ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and creating digital content for an organization, business, or campaign.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders (e.g., schools, community groups, industry partners).
  • Commitment to sustainability, education, and community engagement.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively on a small team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in program coordination, community engagement, communications, or nonprofit work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with fundraising, grant writing, or donor cultivation.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of project management platforms (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Education, Environmental Studies, Architecture, Public Administration, or related fields.
Responsibilities

Outreach & Program Coordination (40%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, industry professionals, and city officials.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate community events, workshops, and educational presentations.
  • Represent PHFE at public events and occasionally deliver educational presentations.
  • Serve as a liaison to external partners to support program goals.

Communications & Development (35%)

  • Manage social media platforms to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Create seasonal newsletters, the annual report, and other outreach materials.
  • Edit photos and videos from student workshops for internal and external use.
  • Assist with public speaking engagements and presentation preparation.
  • Support fundraising efforts through research, grant strategy, and outreach to funders.
  • Track and report on development activities and outcomes.

Operational & Administrative Support (25%)

  • Ensure program spaces and the office are organized, welcoming, and ready for events.
  • Manage ordering and inventory of supplies for PHFE and CSS initiatives.
  • Provide logistical support for events, workshops, and community activities.
  • Maintain organized systems for program materials and resources.
