The Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent, non-partisan research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Program Coordinator for the AI Initiative. The Al Initiative seeks to identify “Smart Bets” in Al applications for Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), develop practical evaluation methods to help implementers and governments understand if their investments are achieving intended objectives, and design business models for the sustainable financing of Al related Digital Public Goods. They aim to leverage CD’s influence on donor institutions and other high-level decision-makers, positioning them both as a go-to resource for learning and a level of accountability, guiding global leaders towards evidence-based policies and investments that improve development outcomes for people in LMICs.
This assignment is a chance to play an important role in organizational support for CGD’s research and policy work on critical issues in AI for development and US development assistance. The Program Coordinator will provide high quality day-to-day support across the team to colleagues based in London and DC, on a broad array of functions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, analytical and writing skills. Knowledge of issues related to the field of AI/Technology is desired.
This is a one-year, fixed-term position.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate operational and management tasks of AI Initiative in collaboration with the Policy Fellow Han Sheng Chia and team members based in CGD’s Washington DC and London offices. Responsibilities include
  • monitoring the status of ongoing project deliverables;
  • writing progress reports for funders on research progress and products, as well as preparing grant reports;
  • management of consultant and sub-grant contracting processes;
  • monitoring budgets and tracking program expenditures; and
  • coordinating team schedule and travel
  • Coordinate logistics for all aspects of public and private events, roundtables, and workshops.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of the team’s program administration.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field required.
  • 1-2 years professional experience in international development is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a necessity.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment. An ability to see ahead and think strategically is essential.
  • Outstanding communications and writing skills in English.
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Poise and can-do attitude. Comfort working as an individual, with small groups, and with senior staff. Ability to work on projects spanning different time zones and cultural contexts.

The following qualifications and skills would be a plus:

  • Previous experience in project and/or grant management.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.
  • Experience and interest in AI and Technology.

Closing date: Sept 15, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET.
Salary range: $54,340 - $58,000. Pay commensurate with education, skillset, and experience.
