DESCRIPTION
The UC San Diego Labor Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated candidate to serve as the Program Coordinator/Organizer for our Imperial Valley office and worker center project. This position will be instrumental in anchoring our efforts in the Imperial Valley by coordinating outreach events, developing programs, and building strong organizational relationships within the community and with labor organizations.
Under the direction of the Center’s Executive Director, the incumbent will: identify community needs and develop innovative programs that support worker interests and organizational goals; lead the day-to-day operations of the Imperial labor center office, including the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that support workers and the community; organize, promote, and facilitate outreach events aimed at educating workers about their rights, resources, and available services; collaborate with community partners to enhance event effectiveness and reach; and maintain accurate records of activities and participation, prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain positive, productive working relationships with community organizations, labor unions, and key stakeholders such as the Employment Development Department (EDD), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other partners in the Imperial Valley, as well as engage with workers and community members to mobilize support for labor rights and related social justice issues. Implement organizing strategies that empower workers and promote collective action.

In summary the incumbent will 1) use professional community educational program concepts to deliver and enhance standardized educational programs and volunteer educational programs as needed; 2) analyze program content and delivery needs to determine effectiveness of current programs and identify underrepresented constituencies in the community; and 3) participate in recruitment and outreach activities for assigned program.
