Description JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator DEPARTMENT: School-Based Programs EXEMPTION: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Program Director SUPERVISES: N/A HOURLY RATE: $27.47 to $29.67 WEEKLY HOURS: 35 hours/week The Program Coordinator/Activity Specialist will implement year-round activities for youth and families in partnership with public schools in Sunset Park. Our programs are staffed by professional social workers, artists, and young adults from the community, who work in collaboration with teachers and administrators. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to Be an active member of the leadership team of social workers and youth development professionals overseeing Center for Family Life’s programs at one of our partner school sites Collaborate with staff to implement afterschool, evening, and summer programs. Create, implement, and facilitate age-appropriate activities for participants in grades K-12 that promote social emotional learning, team building, and leadership development. Utilize group work and group-management skills to engage youth in hands on projects In collaboration with colleagues, plan, and implement special events and other community building activities? Assist Program Directors with supervision and professional development training of part-time Group Leader and Youth Worker staff Directly manage crises and provide coverage for children in program as needed QUALIFICATIONS Minimum BA degree Highly organized and able to manage time efficiently Ability to be a genuine and positive member of a team, be flexible Has strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills At least two years of relevant experience with children or teens Experience working in, or in partnership with, schools preferred Groupwork skills and experience preferred Possess a social justice perspective and ability to collaborate with culturally and socioeconomically diverse groups Bilingual Spanish or Mandarin a plus Has an interest in working with participants with some challenging behaviors? Has interest in managing and creating positive experiences for groups? RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS Build and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers and supervisors. Effectively communicate with agency staff, school staff, community partners, key stakeholders, and families Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization. Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change Is flexible and works well as a member of a team WORKING CONDITIONS Flexible working in an office setting and non-traditional classroom spaces May also attend various meetings with different departments Two evening shifts a week and 1 Saturday a month required May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be?required?to work in various temperatures to?facilitate?activities in various locations inside and outside of the school building?
