In this full-time role, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of inclusive and engaging seasonal camps and recreational programs, support staff development, and help ensure smooth operations. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Post-secondary education in Recreation Management, Child and Youth Studies, Education, Community Development, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in program coordination, camp leadership, or recreational programming across multiple age groups.
  • Experience working with children, youth, adults, and seniors in structured program or camp settings.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities, especially in training and supporting part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency with digital tools for scheduling, communication, and program tracking
    Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. They will also be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training, as well as successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of seasonal camps (Summer, PD Days, March Break, Holiday Camps).
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate programming for children, youth, adults, families and seniors.
  • Maintain and organize program resources, including a staff resource library and activity kits.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training camp and program staff.
  • Manage program logistics across both the Frank Rudderham Family YMCA and the Membertou Branch
  • Utilize digital tools for scheduling, attendance tracking, and staff communication.
  • Oversee the communications and onboarding of Y Program Volunteers, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA safety, accessibility, and operational standards.
  • Provide direct support to the Manager of Recreation and Day Camp in daily operations
  • Coordinate Community Programming Centre calendar.
  • Actively participate in the YMCA Child Safeguarding Committee.
  • Uphold the Y Way Member Experience standards to ensure high member satisfaction.
  • Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives that align with YMCA values and seasonal goals.
  • Serve as a backup for program delivery to prevent cancellations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
