Description

Overseeing a team of Child & Youth Care Workers and Team Leads, the Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all program operations including activities, staffing, training, intake/assessments/discharge, and documentation/reporting related to clients, staff, and program operations. Also provides direct care for youth in program. (Monday to Friday, 8hr shifts)

The successful candidate will likely be characterized by others as authentic, service-focused, responsible, compassionate, organized and outgoing. This individual will display a strong level of interpersonal and team-related skills, and have the ability to develop healthy relationships with the youth who come into their care. This position requires an individual who can professionally address the daily challenges in this setting with confidence, forgiveness, and consistency. In addition to these characteristics, the successful candidate will possess the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
  • Experience in managing the environment to ensure safety
  • Supervisory experience
  • Combination of experience with First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit culture
  • Experience working under pressure and in high-stress situations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Organization and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience and understanding of complexities such as FASD, addictions, intergenerational trauma and suicidal tendencies
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all day to day operations of the program
  • Support and supervise staff and youth in the program; able to problem solve in a professional, respectful manner
  • Accessing community supports
  • Development and implementation of care plans
  • Ensure use of appropriate procedure regarding intake/admission, client contact, reports and discharges
  • Evaluate staff performance and participate in the hiring of new staff
  • On-call for the program when applicable
  • Payroll and financial duties for the program
