Description
The Senior Financial Aid Coordinator is a vital Student Financial Services (SFS) member who provides essential student financial support services to prospective and current students. The Senior Financial Aid Coordinator assists with managing the day-today operational functions of financial aid programs in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Promote exceptional customer service to prospective students, current students, and colleagues, including the timely, accurate, and professional response to all phone, email, and in-person inquiries received in the Office of Student Financial Services.
  • Educate prospective and current students of the financial aid application submission process, including technical support of the FASFA and CSS Profile systems.
  • Assist in managing compliance activities related to federal and state regulations, institutional policies, and procedures and establishes goals and objectives.
  • Establish, manage, and monitor standards of quality control for financial aid programs.
  • Work closely with colleagues to continually assess business practices and recommend improvements and support implementation.
  • Support the Associate and Assistant Directors in the processing of institutional scholarships, federal loans, and institutional loans.
  • Assist with verification processing during peak periods.
  • Support the Director in compiling documentation and files for any audits or other quality assurance reviews conducted on the activities of the Office of Student Financial Services.
  • Maintain financial aid application documents within the Empower Student Information System.
  • Preserve confidentiality of all student financial, academic, and personal information in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), US Department of Education, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Service as the primary contact for student insurance enrollment and waiver processing.
  • Supports the processing of student payments, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus demonstrated, directly related work experiences that equates to an advanced degree.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to provide high quality service and handle multiple priorities with confidence and poise in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office as well as student information systems, CPS, NSLDS, and all other financial systems required
  • The ability and willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate the activities related to job responsibilities
