Description of Work “Internal Posting-Only temporary or permanent NC State Government Employees or layoff candidates with the State of North Carolina eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by GS 126May Apply” The primary purpose of this position is twofold to ensure responsible quality control of material received and issued by Central Inventory in support of field operations and to promote quality inventory material within all inventory locations statewide by providing centralized reporting and investigative center for inferior or defective inventory material. This position will act as the supervisor in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor and the Assistant Warehouse Supervisor. This position is responsible for organizing, managing and directing a Material Quality Assurance Program for finished products stocked in the NCDOT Inventory Warehouse and laydown yard. This involves data collection, investigation and implementing a plan of action to alleviate inferior and defective inventory material quality. Position is responsible for developing material specifications where there are no industry standards established where application is unique to NCDOT. Position uses the SAP system to research data for items listed in the inventory system locally and statewide. This position will be very detail oriented, organized, mechanically and mathematically inclined, will work with various types of people and able to develop and maintain programs independently with little supervision. This position will direct, train, schedule and evaluate personnel in the Quality Control section as to the proper procedures in sampling and testing of incoming materials. Position is responsible for maintaining the specification files, purchase order files, Product Information Reports and Defective Inventory Material Reports and receipt and issue log of high dollar and locally manufactured materials. Other duties as assigned. The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: experience enforcing quality control measures for inventory materials, and/or working knowledge of warehouse inventory processes and procedures.
