PROGRAM COORDINATOR: IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION & DETENTION PROGRAM IN CHATHAM (UCC)

_ 27 hours per week for 2025-2026 school year ending June 25, 2026_
Sarnia Lambton Rebound is a non-profit agency committed to youth between the ages of 8 and 24. We promote changed attitudes and behaviours, helping young people develop skills that promote a positive response to self, family and community. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative person with program experience to support our In School Suspension and Detention program, offered in partnership with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.

The In School Suspension and Detention Program provides an alternative for students who have been given an in school suspension. The objective of the program is to provide suspended students with an opportunity to continue their education and enhance their social skills. This position will be responsible for:

  • Creating a positive academic environment for students
  • Working collaboratively with school board personnel
  • Supervising students as they transition throughout the school
  • Believing in the potential of all youth
  • Advocating for issues related to youth
  • Use Relational Practice and Youth Engagement when connecting with youth
  • Maintaining, researching and updating relevant, evidence informed program materials
  • Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the program
  • Supporting a healthy and vibrant work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma in Child & Youth Care or Social Service Worker (or equivalent)
  • Experience in program development, implementation and facilitation is an asset
  • Passion, commitment and dedication to youth
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Knowledge of the school setting, school board personnel and philosophies
  • Independent and teamwork skills and abilities
  • Strong communication, planning, organization and problem solving skills
  • Life Skills training and experience is an asset
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal skills, superior documentation and data entry skills
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Must provide own transportation and have a valid Class G License
