POSITION SUMMARY

MedStar Health is looking for a Metabolic/Bariatric Program Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and compassionate Bariatric Program Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations, clinical coordination, and regulatory compliance of our Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program. This role is critical to the success and growth of our program and serves as the central liaison between patients, the multidisciplinary clinical team, and accrediting bodies.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a strong background in case management, patient education, and bariatric/metabolic care.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed RN, LPN, or LCSW in Washington, DC.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in bariatrics, surgery, care coordination, or a related specialty.
  • Strong patient education and counseling skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, or a related health science field.
  • Prior experience with MBSAQIP standards and survey preparation.
  • Certification in Bariatric Nursing (CBN) or similar is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and clinical databases (e.g., EPIC, MBSAQIP registry).

EDUCATION

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of medical/clinical office and/or administrative experience required
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment, previous experience with computerized scheduling systems, and supervisory experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate and achieve operational goals and effectively resolve problems under stress.
  • Good computer skills, particularly with computerized scheduling systems.
  • Ability to work in team atmosphere to assure maximum use of efficient systems operations.
  • Must possess good mathematical skills.
  • Must have ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals.
    This position has a hiring range of $23.19 - $40.61
