Position: Program Coordinator, Pathways to Employment
Hours: Full time- 35 hrs per week
Location: Hybrid: In-person at our Vancouver office and virtual
Compensation: $52,000 - $56,000 annualized
Start date: As soon as possible

Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975.
Are you passionate about empowering immigrant and refugee women to achieve their career goals—especially in the field of early childhood education? We’re looking for a dynamic and compassionate Program Coordinator to lead and support participants through our Pathways to Employment program.
In this role, you’ll combine your background in childcare and program coordination to deliver targeted training, hands-on workplace experience, and individualized support. Your expertise will help participants gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the early learning and care sector.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience within the childcare sector; licensed Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in program coordination, organization and administration, ideally within childcare, social services, or educational settings
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Education, Social Work, Human & Social Development, or the Social Sciences preferred)
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
  • Experience organizing events, convening stakeholders, and building relationships with participants and partners
  • Ability to communicate well with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in data entry and reporting systems is an asset

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly with a growth mindset
  • Experience working with immigrant &/or refugee women and an understanding of their unique needs
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills; additional language skills are an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed approaches
  • Proficient in using various software and digital tools (Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, MS Office)
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Possession of non-judgmental and genuinely positive attitudes (culture, religion, race, gender, sexuality, special needs, etc.) and freedom from stereotypes
  • Passion for inclusivity and diversity, and interest in being part of a multicultural team is an asset

Responsibilities

Intake and Recruitment

  • Lead recruitment efforts by coordinating intake processes, conducting screening calls, and hosting information sessions to attract and enroll top candidates
  • Manage the selection process by organizing group interviews, assessing applicants, and ensuring successful cohort placement
  • Support prospective applicants by providing guidance on program selection, application procedures, and required documentation

Program Delivery & Operational Coordination

  • Oversee program delivery by coordinating workshops, training sessions, field trips, and essential skills activities to ensure an engaging and impactful experience for participants.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with program partners, stakeholders, and participants to foster collaboration and enhance program success.
  • Ensure seamless program operations by managing logistics for both in-person and virtual sessions, organizing resources, and supporting program monitoring to meet deliverables and budget goals

Publicity and Partnership Development

  • Drive stakeholder engagement by building and maintaining strong relationships with community partners, sector leaders, and potential clients to expand program reach.
  • Lead outreach efforts by planning and executing information sessions, community events, and marketing initiatives to promote program visibility and participation.
  • Represent the organization at events and networking opportunities, strengthening partnerships and enhancing PIRS’ presence within the community.

Administration

  • Manage program administration by tracking expenses, processing invoices, coordinating vendor payments, and handling partner agreements to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records by updating databases, tracking participant progress, and compiling reports for leadership and funders.
  • Support program visibility by assisting with community events, staff meetings, and outreach efforts to enhance engagement and awareness
