POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The Graduate College is seeking top candidates for a Program Coordinator for Professional Development and Alumni Relations that will support the success of graduate students and post-docs by coordinating programs and partnerships that prepare them for meaningful careers and connect them with alumni networks. This individual designs and delivers programming focused on core essential (soft) skills such as leadership, communication, collaboration, resilience, and emotional intelligence, skills that are increasingly essential across all sectors. The program coordinator also strengthens alumni engagement through targeted outreach, events, and communication, fostering a vibrant, supportive community that enhances the student and post-doc experience and post-graduate outcomes.
The Professional Development and Alumni Relations Program Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Graduate Center initiatives with a dotted line to the Associate Director of Graduate Career Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with professional development technologies and platforms (e.g., Handshake, Trellis)
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective programming related to wellness, mentoring, financial education, or identity-informed career pathways.
  • Skills in data collection, assessment, and program revaluation.
  • Knowledge of career development frameworks, transferable skill-building, and effective advising strategies.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills across various audiences and formats.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree
  • 1 year of experience providing career, professional development, or academic coaching to students, ideally at the graduate level.
  • Experience working with first-generation, international, or non-traditional graduate student populations.
