The Program Coordinator is part of the Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (CTTC) at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for working closely with and in support of the New Venture Development team and other CTTC units in their efforts to develop and implement strategies involving company formation and support for promising technologies. This individual also plays a key role in building and maintaining relationships with the local entrepreneurial and venture capital communities. Such efforts include coordinating institutional funding programs to support translational research toward commercialization outcomes, including the Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, and liaising with and tracking startups within the Vanderbilt portfolio. This position reports to CTTC’s Director of Operations.
The Vanderbilt CTTC’s mission is to provide professional commercialization services to the Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center community, thus optimizing the flow of innovation to the marketplace and generating revenue that supports future research activities, while having a positive impact on society.
We accomplish this by serving as an efficient and effective conduit for the transfer of promising intellectual property to industry; contributing to regional economic development by licensing locally and supporting new venture creation; and encouraging greater translational research collaborations between academia and industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A high school diploma is necessary.
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is highly preferred.
• At least two years of experience working
• (i) with new or early-stage companies and/or
• (ii) in a new venture development support position in a university, national lab, or in industry, is necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to review and be conversant with new venture-related documentation is necessary.
• An ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and documentation is necessary.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication, project management, conceptual, and analytical skills are necessary.
• An ability to work effectively and productively as a member of a team and with senior management is necessary.
• Ability to promote a positive culture of support and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements is necessary.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a collaborative, fast-paced environment is necessary.

• Coordinate the life cycle (proposal submission, review, award, and post-award processes, including budget tracking) for the Vanderbilt Innovation Catalyst Fund and other internal funding mechanisms designed to support early-stage research projects with high potential for commercial and/or social impact.
• Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for CTTC, including those to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance in fund management, startup support, and documentation for the New Venture Development team.
• Manage the New Ventures portfolio, including creation, management, and tracking of financial records and other key documents for Vanderbilt-affiliated startup companies.
• Create regular weekly, monthly, and annual reports, as well as ad hoc reports for CTTC programs, in response to needs from Vanderbilt University and Medical Center leadership and external entities.
• Coordinate and serve as the liaison to Vanderbilt’s Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, a 15-member external advisory board (including venture capital and industry representatives), as they consult on prospective new venture evaluation.
• Collaborate across all departments, schools, colleges, and units on Vanderbilt campus to ensure CTTC programs and processes function optimally.
• Organize large-scale meetings and events in support of the New Venture Development team and across CTTC, including the Southeast Venture Showcase.
• Assist with website and other communication materials, including the Venture Studio website, in partnership with CTTC’s Marketing and Communications Strategist.
• Perform other programmatic and administrative duties related to and in support of the New Venture Development team and CTTC overall.
