The YMCA of Greater Erie is looking to hire a full-time Program Director- Child Care for their Glenwood location. This role will also provide oversight to the Poplar ELC, Camp Sherwin and Elk Valley as well. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA childcare program(s).
This is a salaried/exempt position with the salary range of: $50,658.94-$63,323.68, contingent upon education and experience. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
  • Three or more years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards (if any) and completion of YMCA program specific certifications (list).
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities
  • Manages, directs and coordinates the day care and school age childcare programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Implement supervision and ratio compliance for children, ensuring safety in the daily care of children by maintaining appropriate ratios and practicing strong supervision.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
  • Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
  • Provide support, cooperation and leadership to ensure compliance with government grants and private foundation grants.
  • Keep abreast of regulations and requirements as it relates to Early Head Start and Pre-K Counts and work closely with its leadership team.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  • Assists and attends Quality Circle meetings, branch staff meetings, committee meetings and association meetings as assigned.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.Performs other duties as assigned.
