The salary/hourly range is $163,000-$211,140. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position is for the major capital improvement projects included in the Frederick Douglass Tunnel (FDT) (B&P Tunnel Replacement) Program that will modernize and transform a four-mile section of the Northeast Corridor. It includes two new high-capacity tubes for electrified passenger trains, new roadway and railroad bridges, new rail systems and track, and a new ADA-accessible West Baltimore MARC station.
Under the direction of the Senior Director, Package B – FDT, the Director of Capital Construction, will plan and work across all dimensions, will use advance knowledge of project management processes and controls to accomplish project objectives, and will be accountable for FDT Program outcomes.
The Director will oversee a multi-disciplinary team of design, program and construction management personnel to ensure the work stays within the approved scope, schedule, and budget, and will be responsible for ensuring that adequate and timely support is obtained from other functions. The Director will be responsible to coordinate all Force Account and Package B work activities, track and power outages with various Amtrak departments, including Transportation, Track, ET, and C&S. The Director will be responsible for coordination with Amtrak departments for commissioning of infrastructure assets within the assigned scope of Package B.
This position may also include coordination and collaboration with the Federal Railroad Administration, state partners, and other stakeholders, as necessary, and will require regular metric-based reporting to Senior Staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Project directors are accountable for project outcomes. They are consulted across project activities and provide approval for project decisions. They should consult with their manager (Senior Program Director or AVP of program) on any major decision points likely to impact project outcomes.
