SUMMARY
Direct THR’s legislative and regulatory public policy process at regional/local levels of government through systemwide strategic initiatives to facilitate the enactment of sound health care public policy that strengthens the capacity of the organization to achieve its Mission as well as financial and operational targets. Strengthen relationships with local elected and appointed officials/staff as well as key business, industry and community stakeholders to advance the organization’s public policy agenda.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in public affairs, public administration, political science, business, communications, healthcare administration, or related field required
EXPERIENCE
10 years relevant experience working with government officials/agencies, community and civic organizations, and/or healthcare industry associations required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Local 20% Business travel required within THR’s service area.
Direct THR’s local government affairs strategies and public policy priorities by working with system executives and officers, board members, clinical leaders, local government officials and staff within cities, counties, and regional authorities. Advance strategies and tactics to ensure the organization is advancing its public policy agenda and organizational objectives. Formulate systemwide regulatory strategies, including formally responding and commenting on behalf of THR to local regulatory rulemakings that directly impact systemwide strategies, operations and finances.
Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with industry associations, nonprofits, local businesses and civic organizations. Lead systemwide advocacy efforts for THR’s public policy priorities through site visits, outreach initiatives, and meetings with local government officials. Identify opportunities for leadership outreach and facilitate stakeholder engagement for senior leaders on local and regional public policy initiatives.
Implement and direct internal and external communication strategies systemwide regarding THR’s local public policy agenda, advocacy efforts and initiatives.
Assist officer in developing and overseeing the annual cost center budget for Government Affairs and Advocacy activities.
