Department Overview The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is recruiting a Sarcoma Program Director to lead Oregon’s only dedicated sarcoma center. This individual will oversee the clinical and research missions of the program while providing care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, ensuring continued excellence in patient care and driving innovation in sarcoma research. Function/Duties of Position Leadership & Program Development Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Sarcoma Program, including oversight of clinical services, faculty recruitment, and program growth. Foster integration across disciplines (orthopedic oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pediatric oncology, pathology, radiology) to strengthen OHSU’s regional and national reputation in sarcoma care. Expand the program’s research portfolio in partnership with the Knight Cancer Institute’s SMMART Program and other precision oncology initiatives. Clinical Care Maintain a clinical practice focused on sarcoma patients, serving as a senior attending physician and role model for clinical excellence. Lead the weekly Sarcoma Tumor Board, ensuring multidisciplinary review and consensus-driven care planning. Research & Scholarship Grow the program’s clinical trials enterprise across cooperative group, industry, and investigator-initiated studies. Mentor junior faculty in developing sarcoma-focused research careers. Secure extramural funding to support program growth and sustainability. Education & Mentorship Guide the educational mission of the Sarcoma Program, including teaching of trainees and mentorship of early-career faculty. Represent the Sarcoma Program in School of Medicine and Knight Cancer Institute leadership forums. Required Qualifications MD or DO; Oregon medical license. Board certification in Internal Medicine; Board eligibility/certification in Medical Oncology. Experience in sarcoma clinical care and research. Demonstrated leadership ability, with success in building programs, securing funding, and mentoring faculty.
