DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Division of Student Life supports the university’s academic mission and strategic plan through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life includes four major portfolios, the Office of the Dean of Students, Experiential Learning & Engagement, Health & Wellbeing, and Division Administration. Key programs and departments within the division include but are not limited to University Health Services, Erb Memorial Union, Physical Education & Recreation, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Fraternity and Sorority Life, Counseling, Health Promotion, Multicultural and Identity Based Support Services, Student Government Engagement & Success, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.
The University of Oregon Women’s Center advocates for an inclusive and supportive educational environment for women and people of all genders. The Center promotes social change and the dismantling of oppression through education, community engagement, and personal development. Programs include symposiums, workshops, discussion groups, publication of the Siren magazine, and major events such as the Lyllye B. Parker Black, Indigenous and Women of Color Speaker Series; Take Back the Night Rally & March; and OUT LOUD Queer and Trans Performance Fest.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Director of the Women’s Center serves as an advocate and educator on issues pertinent to women and gender experiences and needs. The Program Director is responsible for guiding the vision through programs and services including annual events and educational and outreach support. The Program Director administers the Center; supervises the initiation and implementation of educational programs; responds to program and service requests, provides direct service via resources and referrals to students; and works to promote the best possible working and educational environment for women and people of all genders at the university.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience working with and supervising students, preferably in a college, university, or similar setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education Administration, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies, or other relevant field.
  • Prior experience working with students from historically underrepresented and underserved populations in a college, university, or similar setting, including but not limited to non-profit organizations and community agencies.
  • Skills in selecting, training, and supervising staff.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience developing and assessing learning outcomes.
  • Experience evaluating programs and services.
