POSITION OVERVIEW

To lead the facilitation of the virtual reality component of the Automotive Technician program, providing direct student support and guidance, conducting analysis of academic data, supporting implementation of program improvements, and assisting with other program logistics, as required. The Program Facilitator - Auto Tech Program position will work a maximum of 20 hours per week and facilitate 2 cohorts. This position is a temporary contract position with an end date of April 30, 2026.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Passion for teaching and developing student learners by facilitating a structured program of study.
  • Educational program management, to include program design and improvement, curriculum and lesson plan development.
  • Proficiency in using e-learning or virtual reality platforms to facilitate programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to students.
  • Experience providing academic interventions to support students navigate difficulties.
  • Must be comfortable working with Word and Excel, Google applications and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate effectively with diverse groups including staff, volunteers, and communities.
  • Bilingual candidates in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to one year of specialized trade, vocational or technical training beyond high school.
  • At least 1 year of experience facilitating training via virtual or e-learning platforms using virtual reality headsets or similar equipment. Practical hands-on workforce experience via formal (i.e. paid teaching experience) or informal experience (i.e. training colleagues or peers).
  • Formal training in teaching preferred.
  • Automotive technology training certified by the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) that aligns with the credentials students can earn via the program (Maintenance and Light Repair, Brakes/Tires, and Steering and Suspension preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certification preferred.
  • Maintenance and Light Repair certification preferred.
  • Brakes and Tires certification preferred.
  • Steering and Suspension certification preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate class sessions on a recurring basis with a focus on supporting students troubleshoot hardware or software issues, provide general instruction that supports student matriculation and maintain classroom environment.
  • Review and analyze student progress data, interpret results for students and provide instruction on how to navigate tasks.
  • Collaborate with the program team to research, develop and facilitate subject matter information that deepens student learning and enriches the overall experience.
  • Support the creation of and review lesson plans throughout the course to identify opportunities to enhance the learning environment.
  • Meet with students on a recurring basis in group or 1:1 settings to provide guidance, support and instruction.
  • Provide feedback to program partner, Vehicles for Change, on opportunities to improve or refine program software.
