    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Program Facilitator to provide a critical role within Corrections and Justice Services.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Program Facilitator forms part of the multi-disciplinary Offender Services team, which is responsible for the development, co-ordination and delivery of a range of programs and services across several specialist portfolios: transition and reintegration, family engagement, disability, diversity and complex care. The Program Facilitator co-ordinates and delivers a range of programs that address the rehabilitation needs of remand and sentenced cohorts. This includes providing support, guidance and motivation to program participants to ensure effective engagement, positive behaviour change, and life skills development. The position contributes to the delivery of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway and participates in case-planning and case management activity, as required.
In addition, the position will contribute to and support the location to embed a positive pro-social environment, and a connected, multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Contribute to the development, co-ordination and delivery of a range of offence-related programs.
  • Assess suitability and eligibility for program participation and align program activity to individual case plan goals.
  • Provide appropriate support, guidance and motivation to people in care; encourage program participation, engagement with program content and the development of life skills.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the rehabilitation needs and issues experienced by people in custody.
  • Experience in co-ordinating and facilitating programs, preferably within a rehabilitation or social services field.
  • Demonstrated capability to work with people who are difficult to engage individually, and in group settings.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse cohorts, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
