The Fireweed Institute is an Indigenous-led organization rooted in collective leadership, decolonial approaches, and transformative systems change. We work to nurture spaces where Indigenous knowledge, ceremony, and community care guide our path forward. Our programming blends online learning, mentorship, leadership development, and investment-readiness support to help Indigenous entrepreneurs scale their businesses. Rooted in Indigenous worldviews, we explore alternative economic models and advance economic reconciliation. Our fellows are scaling impactful ventures that strengthen Indigenous communities.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

The Fireweed Institute exists to build a thriving Indigenous entrepreneurship ecosystem. We are looking for a proactive and community-rooted Program Coordinator to help implement and evolve our business innovation and incubation programming and to support the logistics and execution of our broader programming initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about entrepreneurship, with lived or professional experience in Indigenous contexts, and with an aptitude for technical or design innovation, facilitation and community driven impact. The Coordinator will play a hands-on role in the field—including travelling into Indigenous communities with our mobile maker-space, building relationships, and demonstrating entrepreneurial prototyping tools and practices.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a deeper conversation, which may include scenario-based, behavioural questions, and questions seeking to understand what you will bring to our team. There is generally one online interview and one in-person interview.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
