YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with feeding and caring for farm animals
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to travel to sites not serviced by public transportation
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G2”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
  • Successful candidates must provide own CSA approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment *Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.
Responsibilities
  • Care and handling of Mountsberg Conservation Area’s farm animals, including draft horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits
  • Barn chores & animal care, including but not limited to preparing and delivering diets, cleaning horse stalls, and other animal enclosures
  • Deliver informative and entertaining educational programs for organized groups and the public
  • Assist with day-to-day operations and customer service including providing general information to visitors and promotion of park initiatives
  • Work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
