With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated intern to support the powertrain and electronics propulsion technical program management (TPM) team this summer! Potential projects include actuator and ground charging equipment teams and could expand to other teams within Powertrain & Electronics. As a TPM intern, you will work closely with the design, manufacturing, supply chain, and testing teams to identify and solve the critical path priorities to help bring development projects to closure. A successful candidate will be comfortable understanding technical discussions, developing strategic plans, and communicating with a broad array of stakeholders. This role is an opportunity to own real development initiatives from design through implementation to production and make a meaningful impact on the certification of Joby’s S4 aircraft. Start Date: May 2026 (flexible) Duration: 12+ weeks (Summer 2026, with potential extension into Fall) Location: On-site, San Carlos (Full-time, 40 hours per week) Eligibility: Open to rising juniors and above International Students: If applying with CPT authorization, ensure you can legally work 40 hours per week on-site before applying Responsibilities Assist the powertrain and electronics technical program management team in driving the organization towards type-certification Facilitatethe design-improvement cycle between design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and testing teams Serve as the asset manager for various development hardware, from test assets that require specific documentation to demo charging equipment that will be positioned globally Track and manage spare parts and equipment inventories as needed Identify dependencies and timelines for equipment upgrades around technical and operational constraints Accelerate project maturity byidentifyingand implementing strategies for de-scoping or accelerating critical path tasks Coordinate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to expedite critical-path priorities and communicate their downstream program implications Required Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, Business, or a related field Heading into junior or senior year of undergraduate degree or above Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment Effective communication skills, both written and executive presentation Desired Familiar with Urban Air Mobility, eVTOL sector,electric vehicle charging,or renewable energy technologies Direct project experience with hardware development,ornew product introduction or operations, e.g. student-led projects like Formula SAE or prior work experience Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. Additional Information The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes junior to senior level students, is $22-$31/hour. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor's, Master's, and/or Ph.D. degree in progress or completed is $5,550-$7,800/month.
