Description

ORGANIZATION HISTORY

ECN has been a functioning organization since its inception in 2003. The Aspen Community Foundation identified Kids First Department of the City of Aspen in 2003 as the organization best positioned to orchestrate a regional response to rising childcare needs, naming Kids First as the primary architect of its five-year Early Childhood Education Initiative (ECEI), through which ECE programs throughout the region are supported. ECN officially came into being in October of 2010 when the organization obtained its 501c3 nonprofit tax determination. At that point, the advisory board became a full governing board and staff was transferred over from the City of Aspen.
