Reporting to the Senior Program Officer, the Program Officer for Employer Engagement will be responsible for supporting affiliate and partner agencies around expansion of employer relationships. The Program Officer will interact with the Global Refuge resettlement affiliate partner network, and corporations who have expressed commitment to hiring refugees at the national level. This role provides critical training and support functions for affiliate staff while engaging employers to ultimately provide meaningful employment to refugee clients. This position will aim to expand employer engagement initiatives and create evidence of improved access to advancement opportunities and inclusive workplaces. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in social work, social sciences, non-profit management or related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a field with similar or overlapping skill set such as program development, employment services, or volunteer management or the appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in direct services to refugees, immigrants or limited English speakers.
  • Experience working with the refugee resettlement programs such as Matching Grant, Reception and Placement, and/or Preferred Communities programs, strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional public relation skills, with a track record of incorporating others and cultivating networks. Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with external partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional presentation, training, and facilitation skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and providing technical assistance to service providers and staff.
  • Exceptional writing, material development, and data collection skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge in database management and other computer applications.
  • Deep commitment to Global Refuge’s core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of time.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, promote, and implement strategies to grow the number of Global Refuge partners participating in employer partnership in the Global Refuge Preferred Refugee Employers (PRE) program.
  • Work closely with a team to provide program support through regular contact with affiliate staff who implement employment programming locally.
  • Assist in the development of resource materials, facilitating peer support, preparing service manuals, and planning and implementing trainings sessions for local partners.
  • Develop helpful tools and materials on topics such as employer engagement strategies for local employment and economic empowerment staff to utilize.
  • Maintain update-to-date tools, materials, and resources utilizing systems including Global Refuge’s extranet Connect.
  • Support the team in designing, organizing and delivering trainings and e-learning sessions.
  • Support coordination of affiliate site visits that involve meeting with various stakeholders; interviewing affiliate staff, refugee families, and community leaders regarding the PRE program. Assist in the development of program proposals and contract management documents.
  • Conduct outreach and maintain communication with employers.
  • Connect employers with Global Refuge’s local affiliate network to ensure job opportunities are reaching Global Refuge’s client base. Provide support and guidance for both employers and network staff.
  • Work closely with Global Refuge staff to provide updates on new employer relationships and existing opportunities for upscaling.
  • Work collaboratively alongside team members and other departments, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide other project support functions as needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned by supervisor.
