Salary Range: $64,034 to $78,383

Job Summary:
As a single-point-of-access that connects Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) members with the federal government, national associations, non-profits and the private sector, Canadian Partnerships creates opportunities where partners can gain from members’ industry and academic expertise, and where members can enrich learning and expand employment prospects for their students and actively support economic development nationally, regionally and locally.
Reporting to the Manager, Projects and Programs, the Program Officer (PO) is primarily responsible for the implementation, monitoring, control, reporting and budget maintenance of programs and projects. An additional core responsibility includes engaging with key staff in member institutions and stakeholders, including federal government officials and industry partners. The PO may be asked to provide supplementary support to the Government and Stakeholder Partnership team in a financial, administrative and event organization capacity.
As an excellent communicator and problem solver, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the team in all aspects of program and project outreach and delivery, to ensure value to members is realized and contractual commitments with federal government funders and private sector clients have been met.
The work of the Program Officer is reviewed by the Manager, based on objectives and work plans set annually.

Specific Expectations:

The Program Officer, will work on various programs and projects and will:

  • provide support to the Senior Program Officer (SPO) in the implementation of project and program activities, as described in contribution agreements with funders;
  • ensure that decisions are followed up in a timely fashion, and that problem areas are brought to the attention of the team;
  • utilize, implement, and maintain administrative, communication and financial tracking spreadsheet;
  • prepare and copy edit documents, resource materials and correspondence;
  • provide the Manager, and other divisions and teams with statistical and data reports as required;
  • coordinate event participation, including seeking event opportunities for partnership development;
  • support the SPO in the implementation of monitoring and evaluation plans, including reporting on milestones, risk factors and successes;
  • update and track budgets
  • process expense claims
  • in collaboration with the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement department, support the implementation of social media and digital marketing strategies;
  • support the organization and delivery of webinars and other activities, in collaboration with members and external partners

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate has:

  • graduated from a post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • one to two years’ experience related to project coordination, financial administration, writing and administrative support;
  • knowledge of project management fundamentals;
  • knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) software; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at different levels;
  • demonstrated ability in the design of reports and presentations;
  • research and analytical skills;
  • proficient in managing information and administrative processes;
  • proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, and comfortable using SharePoint and Teams environments;
  • strong writing and editing skills in English;
