Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chair of Biomedical Engineering, the Program Officer will be responsible for the following:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the implementation and monitoring of new Department initiatives and projects;
  • Maintains database, compiles statistics reports;
  • Promotes Department programs and services through social media, online events, website, and newsletter;
  • Supports research development, collaborative partnerships, and fundraising, and acts as liaison between the Department and internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of new faculty recruits as directed by the Chair;
  • Supports special projects related to the Department.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Education:

  • University degree in a related area to Biomedical Engineering or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Graduate degree is an asset.

Experience:

  • Experience in a University environment or other large organization;
  • Related experience in strategy development and implementation of academic and research programs is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational governance;
  • Demonstrated experience initiating projects and/or collaborations.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking;
  • Must be self-motivated and sustain a high degree of initiative;
  • Project management, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Computer competency in Microsoft Office, social media, and web development.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
