This position is part of the CAP Secretariat, a fast-paced and dynamic team who cover diverse topics and activities including, but not limited to:

  • jurisdictional scans of agriculture programs and services beyond Alberta’s borders;
  • development of briefing materials for senior and executive leadership;
  • development of tools and resources to help aid the development and implementation of the programs and services offered in Alberta under the current federal, provincial and territorial agricultural (FPT) policy framework; and,
  • coordination of ministerial engagement sessions with industry related to the pan Canadian policy frameworks;

Each member of the CAP Secretariat is reliant upon the other and it is through this spirit of collaboration that the team is able to meet the high demands placed upon it.
The CAP Secretariat leads the development of five-year FPT agriculture policy frameworks that bring federal funding into the province for the agriculture and agri-products industry. The CAP Secretariat leads program teams across the department in the development, delivery and results reporting of CAP strategic initiative programs. It also provides policy recommendations on the Business Risk Management (BRM) programs delivered by Agriculture Financial Services Corporation. The CAP Secretariat helps to advance the Ministry’s priorities through FPT Working Groups and by supporting Executive and Minister participation in FPT negotiations and meetings. A new five-year policy framework, the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) was launched in April 2023 and will be in effect until March 31, 2028. QUALIFICATIONS

University graduation, preferably in Public Policy, Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalencies may be considered - directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
