JOB OVERVIEW:

Family Options provides behavioral support and supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities, many of whom are also dual diagnosed. If you are seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while growing professionally in the developmental services field, we invite you to join our team in the Burlington area. We are currently seeking an experienced, compassionate leader with a strong background in managing and mentoring staff within a residential care setting.

The Supervisor works in partnership with the Program Manager to supervise, schedule, and direct front-line staff. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all clients through direct hands-on care. Supervisors are also responsible for responding to aggressive behaviors and implementing Ministry-approved physical interventions as needed. All staff, including the Supervisor, are required to complete mandatory training. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with individualized support plans for each client
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of individualized care plans for clients, and working with clients to achieve their personal goals
  • Overseeing clients’ day-to-day behaviors and goal progress
  • Managing the daily operations of the residence, including staffing coordination
  • Completing daily, weekly, and monthly reports, logs, and other documentation
  • Ensuring that the residence is safe and well-maintained, both inside and out
  • Occasionally assisting with other residences as needed
  • Coordinating staff coverage as operational needs arise
  • Representing the company and program professionally to agency workers, social services professionals, families, and the community
  • Participating in on-call duties on a rotational basis
  • Establishing and leading regularly scheduled staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will possess a sound knowledge and understanding of individuals with disabilities and their unique needs. In addition, the following qualifications are required:

  • Post-secondary education in Social Sciences (e.g., SSW, DSW)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the developmental services field, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a vehicle for work-related purposes, with automobile insurance
  • Willingness to complete crisis intervention training
  • Valid First Aid/Level C CPR certification
  • Willingness to submit to a police check, vulnerable sector search, and medical clearance
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and managing the daily operations of the residence, ensuring safety, security, and wellness for all clients
  • Ensuring compliance with individualized support plans for each client and assisting in the development of their care plans
  • Supporting clients in achieving their personal goals, promoting independence, and fostering community inclusion
  • Supervising and directing the front-line staff, ensuring proper staffing ratios, and coordinating staff coverage as needed

  • Ensuring that all documentation (reports, logs, assessments) is completed accurately and on time
  • Promoting a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for clients and staff
  • Representing the company professionally to agency workers, families, and the broader community
  • Participating in on-call duties on a rotational basis and attending regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Providing occasional assistance to other residences when necessary
  • Supporting clients in engaging in social, educational, and recreational activities
