Job Title: Program Support Staff (Unionized Position)
Shift: Shifts range in length but are often 8-hour or 12-hour shifts for a variety of days, evenings, overnights, weekdays & weekends. There is also an option to pick up additional shifts
Reports to: Manager of Supportive Housing Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion and commitment to an inclusive workplace; respecting and valuing the diversity of every individual
  • 1-2 years of experience in a residential care facility
  • CYW diploma / or related degree, OR actively working towards related diploma / degree
  • Experience working with youth and/or marginalized populations an asset

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be willing to relocate or reliably commute to Guelph, ON
CPR / First Aid - Level C
Vulnerable Sector - Criminal Reference Check

Responsibilities
  • Complete administration for clients entering the Youth Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing
  • Adhere to safety, security, and policy procedures while supervising spaces occupied by clients
  • Implement low or no skills evening programs for clients
  • Maintain a standardized level of cleanliness for sites and related programing events
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of clients’ needs and strengths while working with Case Managers to support the clients in reaching their goals and providing various supports
  • Work in collaboration with Wyndham House programs, services, and other community providers
  • Accurately record, complete, and file confidential client documents
  • Aid clients’ in accessing necessary medication and update records accurately
  • Participate in our food and nutrition program; advanced meal planning (i.e.- create ingredient lists, grocery shopping, and meal preparation)
  • Update personal needs allowance records on a weekly basis
  • Provide support and crisis intervention for clients experiencing physical and mental health emergencies
  • Execute safety and fire drills in accordance with government and organizational policies
  • Accurately document site security checks, petty cash, and shift inventory logs
  • Attend to other duties assigned by the Program Manager
