Description A Programs Team Member is the face of the museum’s public experience, engaging guests of all ages with hands-on exhibits, scientific demonstrations, and interactive learning. Team members operate exhibits, spark curiosity through informal conversations with guests, and guide visitors in exploring STEAM topics in a fun and welcoming environment. Program Team Members may be assigned to work Museum events, birthday parties, facility rentals, auxiliary programs, camps, or overnights. Greet and assist museum guests, answering questions and providing information about exhibits, and day-to-day operations and services available Operate and monitor interactive exhibits, ensuring they are safe, clean, and functional, reporting maintenance needs to the Programs Team Supervisor or Programs Facilitation Manager Maintain physical appearance of museum by keeping areas clean and organized Facilitate activities or science demonstrations Be comfortable with learning the various science concepts associated with the exhibits and sharing that information with guests Encourage guest interactions with exhibits and activities through open-ended questions and hands-on support Assist with crowd control, program logistics, and exhibit resets as needed Support museum-wide events and special programs Support additional museum initiatives as assigned to spark curiosity and promote discovery learning experience Requirements No previous education or experience required. Availability Requirements Flexible schedule, with weekend and holiday availability required and some occasional evening shifts available Have consistent and reliable transportation to and from work Have consistent and reliable contact methods (preferably cell phone and e-mail) and respond with reasonable promptness when contacted Additional Requirements Professionally represent Science Museum Oklahoma and its mission, this includes maintaining good hygiene, personal care, and appropriate appearance Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all guests feel welcome to experiment, explore, and create Engage confidently with children and adults, including being silly, animated, and high-energy when appropriate Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including clear verbal communication Maintain an approachable, kind, and confident demeanor, with a willingness to receive and apply feedback Apply a practical understanding of safety protocols and best practices when conducting science demonstrations or hands-on activities Follow schedules accurately and consistently; punctuality and reliability are essential Work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and personalities to contribute to a positive team culture Working Conditions This position works in an active and busy children’s museum setting. Work involves frequent standing and walking for long periods of time. Work may involve crawling, climbing and crouching Work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
