JOB SUMMARY

The Program & Volunteer Coordinator for Desert Valley Hospice Society is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing the organization’s volunteer programs and community support initiatives. This role includes recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, organizing events and educational workshops, and ensuring effective program delivery aligned with the society’s mission to provide compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support. The coordinator also serves as a liaison between volunteers, clients, and staff, fostering a supportive and respectful environment. This position reports to the Administrator and is a Temporary Sick Leave position. It is a part time position (15-20 hours per week)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: A background in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in volunteer coordination or program management, particularly in a healthcare or hospice setting, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to work solo as well as in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office is a must. Familiarity with volunteer management software is advantageous.
  • Personal Attributes: Empathy, patience, and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
