JOB SUMMARY:
CultureLink’s Newcomer Youth Success program facilitates the settlement and successful integration of newcomer children and youth through four types of services: needs assessment and creation of a settlement plan; information and orientation group events; community connections; and employment supports. The Program Worker supports newcomer youth to overcome barriers that prevent them from entering the Canadian workplace and increases their employability in the Canadian job market. Services include but are not limited to one-on-one employment counselling, group workshops, networking activities to connect job seekers with employers, and job placements.
The Program Worker coordinates with other related programs in the Organization to provide holistic support for newcomers, and seeks out new and strengthen existing employer, mentor and other external stakeholder relationships to achieve program goals. CultureLink offers targeted programming for girls/women and the 2SLGBTQI+ community and educates all clients (and staff) on Indigenous culture, customs, and history through consultation and partnerships with Indigenous-led organizations.
In-person work at one or more sites and itinerant service delivery at partner sites will be required.
Maintaining positive relationships with partners and CultureLink colleagues is essential to program success. All agency staff are also expected to support each other and to collaborate on agency-wide initiatives.
