Description

The Position: The Youth and Gender Programme Analyst is based at the UNFPA Country Office in Kyiv and contributes to the effective management of UNFPA activities in the Gender and Youth Unit. The Analyst works under the supervision of the head of the Gender and Youth unit at the country office but works across all CO units to ensure that gender and youth issues are mainstreamed across the UNFPA program. The Analyst will analyze and assess relevant political, social and economic trends and provide substantive inputs to country program implementation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. Job Purpose: Working within a Country Office environment, you will provide inputs in the development of the youth and gender component of the country programme and projects, and monitor results achieved during implementation, applying the appropriate UNFPA systems and procedures. You would be responsible for: * Contributing to ensuring quality of programme/project design, incorporating lessons learned, newly developed policies and best practices and establishing appropriate execution and monitoring mechanisms and systems; * Contributing to the analysis and interpretation of the political, social and economic environment relevant to gender and youth, and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention; * Keeping abreast of new gender and youth policy developments and strategies by analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks; * Preparing briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks; * Establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies; * Facilitating the timely and efficient delivery of project inputs; * Creating, documenting and sharing knowledge about current and emerging gender and youth issues, by analyzing programme, projects, strategies, approaches and ongoing experience for lessons learned, and best practices; * Supporting the review and/or development of national policies, strategies, and guidelines as well as programme costing and budgeting, as they relate to adolescent SRH including HIV and gender linkages; * Supporting the inclusion of comprehensive sexuality education that is age-appropriate, culturally relevant and scientifically accurate, in order to multiple students in the formal school curriculum to achieve UNFPA’s vision that young people are aware of their SRH and rights; * Assisting the Ministry of Youth Affairs with the implementation of the National Youth Service programme; Qualifications and Experience: Education: * Advanced University Degree in Public Health, Sociology, Public Administration or other related fields. Knowledge and Experience: * Two years of relevant experience working in youth and gender programming required; * Understanding of gender, human rights and women’s rights is essential; * Demonstrated interest and/or experience in youth empowerment, civic engagement, local governance, development, project management and/or monitoring and evaluation; * Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills, both written and oral; * Ability to organize effectively, and to work under pressure with attention to details, precision and accuracy; * Previous experience working on a gender and/or youth programme. Languages: * Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required. Responsibilities
